Known for being a pioneer and industry leader within the residential property market, Martin has a track record exceeding 35 years and has covered all parts of the market – from construction, housing associations, volume house builders, and build-to-rent.
He has recently co-founded Goodstone Living, partnering with Macquarie to launch a specialist real estate developer and investment manager creating a better way to rent.
Martin is a longstanding member of the British Property Federation Residential Committee and is probably best known for being a founding partner and shareholder in Essential Living, the UK’s first institutionally-backed build to rent platform, way back in 2011 when build to rent was in its infancy in the UK. With the concept being completely new, there was no real policies specific to it – nationally or locally. Martin played a leading role in shaping Government policy, cementing political connections at the very highest levels and helping drive forward planning reforms that have since helped define and shape residential investment.
Skilled in development management, negotiation and town planning, Martin also has extensive experience in advocacy, policy, technology, and crisis management
