Lucy Tilley has worked alongside Sir David Adjaye for over 20 years and brings critical
understanding of the inspiration, innovation and delivery of the practice’s work. She has
worked in the architecture and construction industry since her teenage years, Lucy’s journey into architecture is a unique and inspirational story. An early introduction to architecture through a Youth Training Scheme and work experience eventually led her to study architecture at South Bank University, where she was tutored by a young David Adjaye, who spotted her potential and encouraged her as an undergraduate. After being awarded a first-class honours degree, Lucy went on to study at the prestigious Architectural Association, where she herself became a tutor after her postgraduate degree.
Joining Adjaye Associates, Lucy demonstrated a flair for leadership, astute business acumen, and exemplary communication skills early in her career, becoming a director at age 26. As CEO of the London studio, Lucy is the strategic force behind business development and is a key member of the Design Management and Global Executive Board.
Current projects under her leadership in the UK and internationally include the UK
National Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre, located next to the Houses of
Parliament in Westminster, and the new Kiran Nadar Museum of Art & Cultural Center in India.
