Tracey is a Chartered Surveyor specialising in residential property. A Londoner by birth, Tracey grew up in housing stock eventually acquired by the Notting Hill Housing Trust after years of mis-management: her experience of landlords both good and bad thus began early in life. Following eight years at the Local Government Ombudsman in London Tracey eventually found her way into property spending several years working in estate agency sales and lettings in the North-east of England. In 2006 Tracey joined Grainger where she became Director of Residential Operations and Fund Manager of GRIP. After a decade at Grainger Tracey spent a year with Foundation Real Estate working on Build to Rent developments in the regions and most recently, in October 2017, she took up her current position as Head of Residential for London’s Howard de Walden Estate.
Tracey has managed over a billion pounds worth of assets for institutional investors. She has guided and influenced policy and sentiment in the sector through serving on a number of industry shaping groups including a full time secondment into DCLG as a member of the government’s PRS Taskforce from 2013-2014. She had particular responsibility for introducing the PRS Code which was facilitated by the RICS and establishing a property management qualification to fulfil the needs of the emerging Build to Rent sector, a challenge accepted by the Institute of Residential Property Management.
Tracey chairs the RICS Residential Property Management Working Group, serves on the board of the Institute of Residential Property Management, the RICS Residential Professional Group Board, the British Property Federation Residential Management Committee and is also an active member of Women in Property serving as outreach coordinator for the South-East Committee with a remit to broaden participation and increase diversity in the sector.
She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Residential Property Management and holds an MSc in Real Estate, augmented by an MBA.
